“Never falter before yourself or the enemy. Accept no defeat: Always fight.”
In medieval Scotland there lives a war-band; a group of fearsome brothers, strong and swift, nigh undefeatable in battle, led by their father, the Mad Wolf. And then, there is their sister, his daughter, Drest. A girl who is untried by battle, who has not yet claimed a name within her war-band family. This comes to a grinding halt when their home is attacked by knights. Drest is the only one who manages to escape. Now, her war-band family faces being hanged at Faintree Castle. It is up to Drest to save them. With a captive knight, one of the very ones who attacked her family, she sets off on her journey.
She must now gather her courage, face danger around every corner, and perhaps even gain a few loyal friends, if she is to rescue her family. Drest is about to become a legend.
The Mad Wolf’s Daughter is a wonderful story set in 13th century Scotland. Drest is a strong, twelve-year-old female protagonist who carves out her own legend and becomes the hero of her own story. With great action, adventure, and heartwarming tales of family and friendship, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
